What is an official Outcross?
An
official outcross is produced from mating two Active
Registered & recognised pedigree breeds of cat together.
It is
always advisable make a thorough investigation when purchasing kittens
to be sure you are actually purchasing officially registered kittens
from a reputable breeder.
There
are a vast number of kittens which are not registered with either GCCF
or TICA being sold as pedigree crossbreeds. They are sold before the age
of 13 weeks and without two sets of vaccinations done three weeks apart.
These kittens cannot be classed as pedigree cats because they do not
have the necessary paperwork provided by either TICA or GCCF. If you
are unsure ask for the pedigree names of both parents and contact GCCF
and ask for advice.
My
Breeding Program
In 2008 I purchased a fully registered
second generation Birman outcross female Chosenhill Bluducati-Sky. She
came from the result of a GCCF registered Lilac Colourpoint Persian
mated GCCF registered Blue Tortie Birman to produce the first
generation. The Birman Breed Advisory Committee (BAC) set the breeding
policy for this type of mating and it can be found here.

.
Chosenhill Bluducati-Sky was mated to Dareios Laty Mery and produced
four third generation kittens in 2011:
Bluducati
Allthat fluff: Blue point female
Bluducati Angelina: Blue point Female
ACTIVE Breeding female
Bluducati Araminta: Blue point Female
ACTIVE Breeding female
Bluducati Archangel: Lilac Point male
ACTIVE Breeding male
All
these kittens are registered on the GCCF Reference Register.
The
progeny from these cats will be registered on the Supplementary Register
and will be given their relevant Birman breed number. If show quality
they can also compete for titles at GCCF shows.
